Shared Leadership
The last few weeks have been hard on us all. We are facing uncertainty and scarcity and watching as our fears are reflected back to us on a global scale. We are also experiencing a moment of collective curiosity about what the next few months will mean for our lives, our movement, and our world. Some days the fear outweighs the curiosity. It is those days that we need each other the most.
This month, the Point of Unity that we are uplifting is the GRCA’s value of Shared Leadership. “Though we are often told otherwise, we believe there is room for all of us to be leaders. We do not fear scarcity and we believe in abundance. Our work benefits from sharing power and leadership within our movement.”
Throughout the GRCA we are grieving the loss of one of the most magical times of year as the conference and many summer camps have been cancelled or shifted to new formats. Now more than ever, we value the wisdom that comes from within our communities.
Nominations/Applications to join the Caucus Advisory Council, Nominations Committee, and the GRCA Board of Directors are currently open. If you are interested in sharing your magic with the rest of the GRCA please consider joining one of our leadership bodies.
We are excited to offer new ways for us to connect during this time. The Annual Member Meeting will take place on May 16th and we have launched a GRCA Pen Pal Program for folks throughout our membership. Stay tuned for digital resources that will be launching in lieu of the 2020 conference!

Leadership Opportunities: Nom Comm
The Nominations Committee (Nom Comm) has been preparing and adjusting for this year’s election cycle! Things are going to look a little different this year because the Annual Member meeting is going to be virtual. On April 11, Nom Comm will be releasing our new and improved SUPER FORM and elections information packet! On this form you will be able to nominate yourself (or someone else) for the GRCA Board of Directors, the Nominations Committee and the Caucus Advisory Council. The form will close on April 21, 2020 at 5pm. After the form closes, Nom Comm will get to work selecting the slate and compiling nominees for the leadership bodies of the GRCA.

Annual Member Meeting
Our Annual Member Meeting will now be held virtually on Saturday, May 16 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM EDT. More information, materials, and registration information will be distributed to member organizations by Thursday, April 16th!
WHY AN ANNUAL MEMBER MEETING AND WHAT HAPPENS THERE?
Since members have the formal power in the GRCA, we hold an annual meeting for our members to meet, review reports, and participate in voting processes. This is our Annual Member Meeting. Each member organization/camp selects one representative to participate in the meeting.
At the AMM, members:
Get a report/presentation on the past year’s activities of the Board and members
Get a financial report
Vote to elect members to the Board of Directors
Vote to elect members to the Nominations Committee
Vote to pass any proposals to the GRCA

Caring for each other during Covid-19
In this time of so much change, we can honor our concern for each other and our communities by sharing ways we are caring for ourselves and for others. The GRCA Caring for Each Other During COVID 19 Sheet is a space where we can share resources, what is lifting us up right now and what we need or see folks we care about seeking, as well as a place where folks can plan virtual meetups outside of Facebook (see the last tab, "virtual meetups").
Camp Cohorts
The GRCA membership is made up of organizations from all around the world. This year as we grieve our in-person time together we also celebrate connection in different ways. We are introducing a cohort model for connecting our membership to one another through digital spaces built around regional groupings. Are you part of a GRCA member camp? How has your organization connected to your cohort digitally? We are stronger together, and connecting and growing our movement throughout these digital spaces. <3

Pen Pal Program
Applications are now live for the Girls Rock Camp Alliance Pen Pal Program! Applicants can choose how they’d like to connect (digital versus hand-written mail) and how frequently they’d like to be in contact (every month, 3 times a year, etc.)! Girls Rock Camp Alliance community members of all ages and gender identities are welcome to apply. Adults will be matched with adults, and youth will be matched with similar-aged peers.
The program is intended for any camper/participant, volunteer, staff member, or board member of any current GRCA member organization–please only share the application links with these people directly to support the security of the pen pal exchange (no public social media posts with the application link, please!).

Las últimas semanas han sido difíciles para todxs nosotrxs. Nos enfrentamos a la incertidumbre y la escasez, y observamos cómo nuestros temores se reflejan a escala global. También estamos experimentando un momento de curiosidad colectiva sobre lo que significarán los próximos meses para nuestras vidas, nuestro movimiento y nuestro mundo. Algunos días el miedo supera la curiosidad. Son esos días cuando nos necesitamos más.
Este mes, el Punto de Unidad que queremos trabajar es el valor de GRCA del Liderazgo Compartido. “Aunque a menudo se nos dice lo contrario, creemos que hay espacio para que todos seamos líderes. No le tememos a la escasez y creemos en la abundancia. Nuestro trabajo se beneficia al compartir el poder y el liderazgo dentro de nuestro movimiento."
En todo el GRCA estamos lamentando la pérdida de uno de los momentos más mágicos del año, ya que la conferencia y muchos campamentos de verano han sido cancelados o cambiados a nuevos formatos. ¡Nom Comm (Comité de Nominaciones) se ha estado preparando y ajustando para el ciclo electoral de este año! Las cosas se verán un poco diferentes este año porque la Reunión Anual de Miembros será virtual. ¡El 11 de abril, Nom Comm lanzará nuestro nuevo y mejorado paquete SUPER FORM y de información sobre elecciones! En este formulario, se podrá nominarse a unx mismo (u otra persona) para la Junta Directiva de GRCA, el Comité de Nominaciones y el Consejo Asesor del Caucus. El formulario se cerrará el 21 de abril de 2020 a las 5 p.m. Después de que se cierre el formulario, Nom Comm se pondrá a trabajar seleccionando la lista y compilando nominados para los cuerpos de liderazgo de GRCA.

Cuidándonos mutuamente durante el covid-19
En estos tiempos de cambios podemos honrar nuestras preocupaciones por nosotrxs y nuestras comunidades compartiendo las maneras que nos cuidamos entre nosotrxs y a lxs demás. El documento GRCA Caring for Each Other During COVID 19 Sheet es un espacio para compartir recursos, qué es lo que nos está dando un empujón cito y qué necesitamos o que pueden necesitar las personas que queremos, también es un lugar donde las personas pueden planificar reuniones virtuales fuera de Facebook (ver la última pestaña, "virtual meetups").
Cohortes de Miembros
La GRCA está compuesta por organizaciones de todo el mundo. Este año, si bien lamentamos no poder juntxs en persona, también celebramos la conexión de diferentes maneras. Estamos presentando un modelo de cohorte para conectar a nuestros miembros de una misma región entre sí a través de espacios digitales. ¿Eres parte de un campamento de miembros de GRCA? ¿Cómo se han conectado digitalmente tu organización a tu cohorte? Somos más fuertes juntxs, conectamos y hacemos crecer nuestro movimiento en estos espacios digitales. <3
¡Estén atentxs en Facebook y Instagram mientras perfilamos diferentes regiones en las próximas semanas para mostrar el increíble trabajo de nuestros miembros!
Programa de Amigxs por Correspondencia
¡Las inscripciones para el Programa de Amigxs por Correspondencia de Girls Rock Camp Alliance están abiertas! Lxs participantes pueden elegir cómo quieren estar conectadxs (digital versus cartas por correo) y con cuánta frecuencia quieren estar en contacto (todos los meses, 3 veces por año, etc.) Toda comunidad de miembros de Girls Rock Camp Alliance está invitada a participar sin importar su edad o identidad de género. Lxs adultxs serán conectadxs con otrxs adultxs y lxs jóvenes con personas de su edad.
