Membership Contributions
The GRCA Board reviewed the former Member Dues structure and identified a need to reduce barriers of membership for organizations, which includes the ability to pay what was previously referred to as annual member dues. For this reason, the GRCA Board opted to move towards a contribution structure that eliminates financial barriers for organizations to become a member of the GRCA.
The former membership structure was put into place 2009-2010. This structure has historically been based on a member organization’s annual revenue.
Moving forward, the Board has chosen to incorporate a gift economics model as a framework for transitioning from a mandatory fee structure to an optional contribution structure:
Five Principles of Gift Economics within the Girls Rock Camp Alliance Membership
Sharing Resources Freely - Modeling Generosity: Support network and resources offered out of generosity and promoting our Points of Unity–not in exchange for a fee. No economic barriers to membership.
Inclusive, Joyful Giving - Invitation to Generosity: All are invited to share resources voluntarily. Community practice of joyful generosity. Recognition that monetary contributions are one of many ways to give.
Giving to Support Sustainability - Inspiring Generosity: Invitation to give to meet the operational needs of the GRCA and to strengthen our movement.
Giving in Proportion to One’s Ability - Practicing Generosity: Those with greater capacity (money, time, skills) are invited to give more.
Financial Transparency - Reflecting Generosity: Information is shared about when and how the needs of the GRCA are met. The GRCA will share quarterly financial updates included in the Newsletters sent out to our membership organizations.

This contribution structure took effect on July 1st, 2020 which was the start of the GRCA’s 2021 fiscal year. There is no longer a deadline for financial contributions, as they are optional and member organizations may vote in the AMM without needing to pay dues.
GRCA members are invited to give joyfully to contribute to the support of the day-to-day operations of the organization and the support of our members.
The GRCA would never turn away current or potential members for an inability to make a contribution. We understand there are many factors to consider when deciding what amount to contribute, so we encourage you to decide what makes the most sense for your organization.
As a non-profit originally founded in the United States of America, the GRCA also acknowledges that charging US dollars to our international member organizations may create challenges due to fluctuating exchange rates within national economies. We appreciate your organization’s contribution in whatever capacity you are able to provide and have re-evaluated our Member Contribution structure based on this.
Member Contribution Suggestions (as of July 1, 2020)
Membership contributions will be received on a suggested sliding scale.
“Accessibility Scale” USD $0 - $50
This level of contribution is suggested for member organizations with annual budgets of USD $10,000 or less and have access needs that require contributing at a lower amount.
“Sustainability Scale” USD $50 to $150
This level of contribution is suggested for member organizations with annual budgets of USD $10,000 to $50,000. This scale is called ‘sustainability’ because an average of $50 per member organization is used to forecast our operational annual budget.
“Support Scale” USD $150 to $300
This level of contribution is suggested for member organizations with annual budgets of USD $50,000 to $100,000. Organizations that are able to contribute at higher amounts/levels help support our members with access needs.
“Solidarity Scale” USD $300 or more
This level of contribution is suggested for member organizations with annual budgets of USD $100,000 or more and have the ability to give at a higher amount. Organizations that are able to contribute at higher amounts/levels help support our members with access needs.
Future Contribution Structure
As we continue to grow as an international non-profit organization, the Girls Rock Camp Alliance will continue to ensure that our membership suggested contribution structure reflects the needs of our membership as well as cost of operations and revise accordingly.
The Board is currently evaluating our budget and will communicate financial updates in future newsletters. We also acknowledge that this year has brought many unexpected challenges and your organizations may have shifting financial needs. If you would like to make a financial contribution to the GRCA and receive a tax receipt, please contact treasurer@girlsrockcampalliance.org . If your organization paid dues in 2020 and is currently facing financial hardship, please contact treasurer@girlsrockcampalliance.org to discuss a possible return of dues.
