Welcome to a New Year!

The Girls Rock Camp Alliance has been working incredibly hard over the last decade, and our collective work  is built on the backs of so many organizers, advocates, activists, and brilliant thinkers. We celebrate the past decade with gratitude and acknowledge all the labor that’s gotten us to this point. 

We are looking forward to the next decade of expanding radical transformation, continuing our growth, and building a movement of transnational feminist solidarity with you, our membership. We are eternally grateful for what you all contribute to our work. Your passion, brilliance, and commitment to the work of the GRCA is what makes this movement revolutionary. 

As you may know, the GRCA brings together a vast network of organizations across the world. We vary in our programs, policies, and approaches, all of which move us towards collective liberation. We unite under specific tenets that have been voted on and accepted by the membership: The GRCA Points of Unity. 

We believe these Points of Unity to be one of our strengths and our commitment to uphold. To that end, we are outlining actions that can help us bring the Points  of Unity to life. We strive to be accountable for our words, and our words must be met with transformational action. 

Over the next few months, each newsletter will discuss a different Point of Unity, and explore the ways that they can be brought into our solidarity work. This month, we introduce the upcoming Newsletter series as a  reminder that our Points of Unity bring us together despite borders that arbitrarily and unfairly keep us apart. 

We look forward to Making Bold Moves throughout the next decade, and are excited to work alongside all of our members to co-create the  global intersectional feminist future that we have all been dreaming of.

ANNOUNCEMENT: 

Conference 2020 Registration Now Open!

Registration for the 2020 GRCA Conference is now OPEN! This year’s conference will be held at Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines, Iowa in the United States from April 23rd-26th. Click here to read the Conference Information Packet (the same info in PDF format found here). Once you have read through the details, click here to register for the conference! The deadline to register for the conference is April 1st. We can’t wait to see you. 

Conference 2020 Workshop Session Applications Now Open!

The GRCA community creates the programming for our annual conference together! Are there best practices that are working really well at your organization? Are you an expert on the fundamentals of putting on a summer camp session? Do you have an idea for an anti-oppression workshop that you’re excited to try? Apply to facilitate a session at this year’s conference - the deadline to apply is March 1st! 

This year’s “tracks” are: 

  • Political Education

  • Creating Global Community

  • Transformational Healing

  • Organizational Growth & Development

  • Radical Approaches to Music

  • Camp FUNdamentals

If your idea doesn’t fit in one of these tracks, propose it for the General track!

In a couple of months, we will be launching our first ever GRCA Pen Pal Program! If you are interested in helping to promote the program in your community and within your GRCA network, please e-mail sabrina@girlsrockcampalliance.org for more information. We will be announcing full details for the Pen Pal Program soon. 

Reminder: Help us understand your needs! 

The GRCA is deeply committed to identifying and understanding the growing and changing needs of our membership. For that reason, we are collecting responses from the GRCA  Member Needs Survey. These responses will help us shape our direction and contribute to the strategic planning of the GRCA over the coming year. We would love to hear a response from each of our organizations around the world, to best capture a collection of thoughts that will help us serve you better.

¡Bienvenides a un nuevo año!

La Girls Rock Camp Alliance ha estado trabajando intensamente durante la última década y nuestro trabajo colectivo está construido sobre el trabajo de muches organizadores, promotores,  activistas y pensadores brillantes. Celebramos la década pasada con gratitud y reconocemos todo el trabajo hecho para llegar a donde estamos.

Esperamos que en la próxima década expandamos esta transformación radical, continuemos creciendo y construyendo un movimiento transnacional de solidaridad feminista con ustedes. Estamos profundamente agradecides por todo lo que ustedes contribuyen en nuestro trabajo. Su pasión, brillo  y compromiso con el trabajo de GRCA es lo que hace revolucionario a este movimiento.

Como ya saben,la  GRCA reúne a una vasta red de organizaciones en todo el mundo. Nuestros programas, políticas y enfoques son variados,  lo cual nos mueve hacia la liberación colectiva. Nos unimos bajo principios específicos que han sido votados y aceptados por los miembros: Los Puntos de Unidad de GRCA.

Creemos que estos Puntos de Unidad son uno de nuestros puntos fuertes y un compromiso que debemos mantener. Con ese fin, estamos delineando acciones que pueden ayudarnos a darle vida a los Puntos de Unidad. Nos esforzamos por ser responsables de nuestras palabras, y nuestras palabras deben cumplirse con una acción transformadora.

En los próximos meses, cada boletín discutirá un Punto de Unidad diferente y explorará las formas en que pueden incorporarse a nuestro trabajo solidario. Este mes, presentamos la próxima serie de boletines como un recordatorio de que nuestros Puntos de Unidad nos unen a pesar de las fronteras que nos mantienen separados de manera arbitraria e injusta.

Estamos ansioses por hacer movimientos audaces durante la próxima década, y estamos entusiasmades de trabajar junto a nuestros miembros para cocrear el futuro feminista interseccional global con el que todos hemos estado soñando.

Inscripción abierta para la Conferencia 2020

¡La inscripción para la Conferencia está abierta! Este año la conferencia se hará en Camp Sunnyside en Des Moines, Iowa en los Estados Unidos del 23 al 26 de abril. ¡La inscripción para facilitar talleres en la Conferencia 2020 está abierta!

¡La comunidad de la GRCA crea la programación para nuestra conferencia anual en un trabajo en conjunto! ¿Hay algo que esté funcionando muy bien es tu organización? ¿Eres une experte en los pasos fundamentales para empezar un campamento de verano? ¿Tienes alguna idea que quieres compartir en algún taller de anti-opresión? Inscríbete aquí para facilitar talleres en la conferencia de este año. ¡Tienes tiempo hasta el 1ero de marzo!

Los temas para este año son: 

  • Educación política

  • Creando una comunidad global

  • Curación transformativa

  • Crecimiento organizacional y desarrollo

  • Acercamientos radicales a la música

  • Fundamentos de campamentos

Si tu idea no cuadra en alguno de estos temas, puedes proponer un tema nuevo.

¡En unos meses, estaremos lanzando nuestro primer programa de amigues por correspondencia de la GRCA! Si estás interesade en ayudarnos a promover el programa en tu comunidad y en tus redes de GRCA, por favor envía un correo a sabrina@girlsrockcampalliance.org para mayor información. Estaremos anunciando todos los detalles del programa muy pronto.
