Girls Rock Camp Alliance 2017 Conference Information!
The Girls Rock Camp Alliance exists to unite, develop, and support its member camps. The most important method of support GRCA provides for member camps is the Annual Girls Rock Camp Alliance Conference, which takes place every spring.
Each year, member organizations send key staff, board members, youth and volunteers to the conference for training, skill sharing, networking, and to have a hand in the governance and direction of GRCA. Friends and allies of the GRCA are also invited and welcomed. The conference also serves as the time when leadership opportunities arise, both at the level of board of directors and smaller committees. Full member camps vote on the slate of board members, and help determine the focus of GRCA in the immediate year. Additionally, at this time members can join GRCA committees and departments.
Although GRCA staff and board members host and organize the annual conference, members are responsible for providing the bulk of workshop development and leadership. As experts in the field of organizing girls rock camps in their communities, GRCA members are encouraged to share their skills and experiences at the conference. We believe this shared pedagogy leads to a broader scope of knowledge and perspectives that benefits all GRCA members.
We strive to be a space that is accessible and accommodating to many abilities and ways of being and ask for your help in continuing to create a stronger, more resilient community that reflects our strengths and identities.
The Girls Rock Camp Alliance recognizes that music is a powerful means to enact social change and create community among our members and the youth involved in rock camps all over the world. We, as well as our members, work to amplify historically excluded and underrepresented voices in music culture, such as the voices of girls and trans youth, women, POC, and queer folks.
We as the GRCA value collaboration and using our collective voice to create personal and social change all over the world.

Stay on-site at Appel Farm: $100-$450, sliding scale
Day Attendee only (no lodging provided): $75-$450, sliding scale
We offer two scales for conference registration fees. Participants can stay off-site and attend as a Day Attendee. If you stay off-site, you are responsible for finding your own lodging as well as your own transportation to and from the site during the conference.
The GRCA uses a sliding scale for conference fees. Sliding scale enables folks to determine what best fits their budget. That being said, know that your payment for the conference is wholly subsidizing the cost of the conference in all its parts. We ask that all attendees and attending camps take into consideration both their financial needs, and the financial needs of the GRCA. The actual cost per person of the GRCA Conference is approximately $150 per person. This does NOT include the many hours of year-round volunteer labor required. Please consider this when selecting your payment amount.

The GRCA conference committee recognizes ways that conference has been structurally and physically inaccessible in past years. This year we aim to be transparent about how it is and isn’t accessible as well as highlight the ways we’re working to make it more accessible. Our work towards accessibility is a work in progress and we commit to it actively! Please let us know if there are ways the conference can be more accessible for you and others. In this year’s registration form, there is a question specifically geared towards finding out about needs or assistance attendees might have. Let us know! We will do our best to meet as many needs as possible and be honest with what we can’t provide.

GRCA provides busses to and from the conference on Thursday and Sunday. When you register, you can let us know if you are interested in taking the GRCA bus. We welcome people to drive to the conference as well. If driving, you can head straight to Appel Farm on Thursday without stopping in Philadelphia.

Rideshares: we have created a rideshare board for conference attendees. We encourage folks who can offer a ride as well as who need a ride to sign up! GRCA will not be responsible for coordinating the rideshares. Please find the rideshare board here. We think that this will be particularly helpful for rides out of Appel Farm on Sunday!
Additional group ride options on Sunday may be available. We will let you know.
All meals are included for both onsite and day participants. You will have an opportunity to specify dietary needs in your registration.

GRCA will be the only group at Appel Farm but there are a limited number of spots for on-site lodging. We have beds for approximately 178 people, using both top and bottom bunks. Housing is first come first served! There will be no private rooms available at Appel Farm; all available rooms are bunk style. There will be heating in all conference rooms and sleeping areas but do remember that this is a summer camp facility and is not a hotel.
This year, If you’re staying at Appel Farms, we plan to offer identity-based cabin options, based on past interest. If you are interested in a POC-only cabin or Trans/Gender-nonconforming-only cabin, there is a question on the conference registration form for you to let us know. We ask for and encourage your input in making this work!
Girls Rock Philly can provide a limited number of homestays before and after the conference (Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday nights), if you’re interested please check the appropriate box when filling out your conference registration.

GRCA Conference Registration is first come first served based on completed application (this means the registration form as well as your first payment). The onsite lodging will fill up fast, so we suggest you register as soon as possible to save your spot at Appel Farm!
1. Read through conference information!
2. Fill out online registration by March 1, 2017.
2a. In your application you’ll let us know who we should invoice for your registration (yourself, your camp, or other person)
3. Once we receive your registration, GRCA staff will send an invoice to appropriate person
4. Submit payment by deadline March 1, 2017.
5. Once we receive registration and payment, your application will be considered complete

Our registration deadline is March 1st, 2017 11:59 pm EST. After this date, all registrations will incur a $25 late fee. Housing is first come first served!
1. If you cancel before February 15th, you will receive a full refund
2. If you cancel between Feb 15th and March 1st, you will receive a 50% refund
3. If you cancel after March 1st, you will be charged your full conference fee.
